As well as his writing, production and Trumpet work, James has also produced 5 of his own albums, most recently "Ballads" which is a modern homage to the classic jazz ballad albums of the 50's and 60's, released  on the UK Jazz/Drum and Bass label Melt 2000.

Away from playing and production, James has consulted to the Labour Party and UK Government on Music Education, is a signatory to the Government’s Music Manifesto, and has recently ambassador for and  consultant to the EMI Sound Foundation.

James is bilingual Spanish and speaks excellent French and currently lives on the English Riviera with his beautiful wife, five children and large, but affectionate dog.
